Freedom eclipsed: the boomer culture of fear

Americans today are actually not much different than those citizens that lived in Great Britain before democracy was introduced. Take for example that as the aristocrats did in early Great Britain, many of our wealthy conservative politicians today are playing the “fear” card by spreading fear among the citizens. They continue to say: “We must fight the terrorists over there or they will attack us here at home.” This claim continues to be repeated to the public but without them providing any specific details. Everyone should just be afraid. The average working American today also disagrees with the government’s new illegal phone tapping and the ability of the government to put citizens in jail today without charging them with any wrong doing. Habeas Corpus was a right that was originally awarded to British citizens in the 16th century. Yet due to the current administration’s efforts, we no longer have that right in America today.
