"While David Howard (Booms And Echoes -- letter, June 26) feels he has been propelled into an identity crisis by his statistical exclusion from the ranks of the baby boomers by David Foot, he could only begin to imagine how horrified some of us born in the mid-1960s feel about having been included in the ranks of that generation. I suspect my reaction is a bit like that of someone accused of being a terrorist because he is wearing a turban. I am easing the gut-wrenching sensation by reminding myself that demographic determinism is just a convenient fiction used to market products and sell newspapers."
